On Saturday,
Febuary 28th, 2009,
Shells to Gold and
Pynk Monkey Media are proud to support
AKAWELLE, a non-profit project created by a 16 year old, civil war survivor, Liberian born Lovetta Conto. Shells to Gold and Pynk Monkey Media will bring music, fashion, and television together for an exciting and meaningful shopping experience. After escaping Civil war in Liberia, Conto chose to express herself through art. She would collect bullet shell casings from the opposition, melt and reform them into the shape of a beautiful leaf charm inscribed with the word “LIFE,” symbolizing the transition from War to love and Fear to Hope. The event will take place at the ultra modern 1020 Studios, home of today’s top commercial and music video casting directors located at 1020 N. Sycamore between the hours of 12pm-7pm. Along with 10 other high end designers, Conto will showcase her line “Akawelle” and share her compelling story.
